so i need some help, the radio seems to have power, theres no antenna (replacement...it doesn't look like it's one of the kind that screws in...please dont say coat hanger) i also dont know where the speakers....on another note...

i have the console that had the clock in it, but theres no clock. would it be a bad idea to put a different radio there to keep the old school look(leaving the original radio in it's place). i'm thinking about taking out the console and making it into a box to hold the head unit...think thats a good idea.:hmmm:

    where are the speakers located.

ok so i just ran out and there aren't any speakers in the kickpanels from what i could tell, the drivers side looked like one may have been taken out, but the passenger side there just isn't one.

alright did you look on top of your dash? should have one there

also there are holes for speakers there so you could run custom speakers 4 inch fits i think

Unless the car is high optioned, the 72 should only have the one speaker in the middle of the dash.
There are 6x9 cut outs in the rear deck.
The kick panel speakers are rare for that year, again unless it was maxed out on radio option.
There are threads here about what speaker grilles fit the kick panels.
If you take them out, there is an outline to cut out and install Torino speaker grilles.
Otherwise, you can just cut round holes and use aftermarket grilles that come with whatever speakers you buy.
Kinda defeats the stock look though.
In short, you need to get your own speakers.
4 or 5 inch for each kick panel.
    6x9 for the rear deck.
Then the plastic Torino speaker grille if you want stock look.

I picked up a period correct Ford (Philco) AM/FM stereo for mine and then a modulator for my MP3 player.
So I have 400 songs on tap and look stock.
Future plans include a sub/subs with a line level amp split off the rear speaker wires.
Eventually, since the stock radio power is low, I will pick up a line level 4 channel amp to power all 4 speakers.
    Dave
