ok guys i know i have been hogging the boards about tire size and backspacing on wheels. but heres a picture of my car with the distance between the tire and the leaf spring.

its a 3-1/2 backspaced wheel with a 255/50-16. so you can see what room i have now. Now that you all can see this picture.. do you think i can fit a 4 inch rear spacing wheel with a 275/40-18... yes 18. (see that mustang on the cover of HOT ROD this month? thats what i'm talking about!) Tire diameter of the 18 is 26.2 in section width is 10.7 in.

I know you guys are thinking "why don't he just do the math" well you know how it works.. math is one thing but when you actually but it on its a differant story.

I will also be taking that useless traction bar off and replaceing them with cal-tracs so I won't have to worry about the tire hitting the back of the slapper bar.

Let me know what you guys think?

    Thanks

Being that the tire will be really short, it wont move around a lot so you might be able to pull it off by the skin of your teeth! Good luck with it.

What wheels are you planning on going with?

good point... but just got denied sponsorship from BFG easy come easy go. so might be going with a bit smaller tire.. maybe a 245 or 255.

as for wheels going with Boyd Coddingtons.. haven't seen them on to many cars lately and they are made very well. You can check them out at

some of the wheels are kinda too SUV like as well as what today youth call bling! but i wanna try to say with the torque trust look but lighter with out getting a torque trust.

heres a pic of the wheel i'm begging to get.

I think it will work and if tire movement is a problem some "slight" grinding would take care of any small clearance issues. I had to grind a little on my old steel leaf springs to clearance for sidewall movement........slicks tend to move around more than a steel belted radial !! ;) With the fiberglass leaf springs I decided to just use a real thin spacer since you can't grind on fiberglass leafs..........I say go with it, sounds like you have done your homework.....
