well when i first got my 74 mav. i was checking the various things in the car and when i pulled the parking brake it went pop. i looked under the car and saw the cables hanging. on further inspection it seems that the passenger cable is still intact and the drivers side broke where it crosses over the exhaust pipe.it looks like all i need is the drivers side cable. this is where im confused in the autokrafters book for the mav under 74 drum-rear it has" all, LH" but when they say LH which way are they looking at the car? from the front or the back. is this part what i need? also on the pass. side the cable runs from the brake and then i have this hanger type metal support. does it run through that before it goes over to the drivers side? i hope atleast someone could follow what i was saying. i took a few pictures and could post them later if you need that.

Your's should be the same as my '76. There are 4 cables total, one from the pedal, an intermediate cable at the equalizer, and the two to the rear wheels. The intermediate one is a hard find, but I made one with a "HELP" parking brake emergency repair kit, available almost everywhere. If you can't find what you need, e-mail me. I found a set for Tom Mulloy's early Mav locally through one of my suppliers as well as for my Stallion before. If you broke one, it is probably prudent to replace both of them as well as the intermediate cable. Oh, the left one is shorter than the right. Left is usually the driver's side.

There is at least 3 different cable systems that I've seen. I'm not sure when the second one kicked in but I think sometime around 74. It might had something to do with the catalitic converter. Then in 76 they made a different set up when they went to the foot operated brake. You will probably need one from a 74 or 75.

If you can't find the parts locally, try Wes. He got the parts for me and they were an exact fit.

oops! change of plans. not going to klingers for a while.... sooooo here we go with directions. 78 west to PA exit 12 i think. it will say "bethel" at end of ramp go right. i think it is rt. 501. anyhow follow it for 8 miles or so until you come to a "T". go left, following the road through "town" you will see an army tank on your right. turn right there. then at the stop sign, hang another right. klingers is up the hill on the left. i don't have his number handy but if you call 411 and ask for pine grove PA they'll give it to you. if your car handles nice, hammer it on the way up the hills. it is a real fun ride! watch out for his sheep! mavericks are "up the hill" and on the right. tell dean scott from new jersey says HI.
