Our church held its annual Awana Grand Prix tonight and I had made a maverick for my little boy...since he likes spiderman aka "niderman" so much, I had him put spiderman stickers all over it. This was our very first pinewood derby/awana grand prix. He won 1st place for design out of the 12 cars in his class but the poor thing never actually made it pass the finish line!!!:(:hmmm: I will try to attach these pictures, [IMG]not sure if it will work though...[IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

Thanks!! I probably could have done it better...but I have this problem they call...procrastination!!! Race was today @ 6 and I started yesterday around noon! Which is why we never got to test and tune days and why the car didnt make it down the track!! haha...good thing he is still too little to understand, he was just happy to be there!

This is pure greatness. I made a lot of Pinewood cars when I was a Scout, and made a lot of great memories with my dad. I can't wait 'til my son is old enough to get into it. Good job, sir. (y)

My sons and I are in the middle of building their Pinewood Derby cars now. One is 8 and a Wolf, the other is 10 and a first year Webelos. They took first place in their dens last year and both went to regionals. They didn't do as well there but they still had fun. It is a great way to spend a little time with the boys. I spent all night tonight at the pack meeting cutting out cars for all the boys with my Scroll saw. Didn't get all of them cut so I guess next week I will have the rest to do. Great fun, an the boys like it too. Great to see he is enjoying his car and trophy. Kinda like winning your first trophy at the race track. Make a place for the car and all that Will follow it in the future. Then when he gets married give them to him for a wedding gift. That is what I have planned for my boys.

Lots of fun for sure. Something your boy will remember the rest of his life.

Thats awesome! I remember my dad and i trying to make a replica of his 36 chevy coupe as a pinewood derby car, but it didn't work out too well...

As an Eagle Scout of my local Boy Scout troop I still enjoy helping out the little cubbies at their pinewood derbys.
