I bought the following brake from these guys: http://cgi.ebay.com/4-foot-finger-B...goryZ633QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem#ebayphotohosting I have used it some and so far it has been satisfactory. The only thing I dont like about it is the way you have to adjust the table for metal thickness. Its a crappy set up. But, for my use, it is a small inconvenience and it is well worth the price. If you plan on doing a lot of bending and switching metal thickness a lot, I would recommend buying their American made unit. It is more costly but I looked it over while I was there and it is also worth the price. The guys selling it are super to deal with. In my case I was on my way to MO to pick up a car. I would be traveling within 10 miles of their shop so I contacted them and they had no problems letting me pick it up and save the shipping. They also gave me a personal demonstration while I was there and helped me load it in the pouring rain. Before I bought it, I also inquired as to the quality of the unit, and if I didn't like it, I could pick up the more expensive unit and just pay the difference. They had no problems with that request. But the import suites my needs. I have experience with 2 different plasma cutters. One my company owns. It is a cheaper unit with built in compressor. I dont recall the manufacture or model #. Personally, I think its a piece of crap. It works OK as long as you go real slow. I personally own a Miller Spectrum 375. It is a dream to use. No problems or complaints with it so far and I have used it extensively. A friend and I used it to cut up a whole full size car into little pieces and hauled it out in his pick up truck. With any plasma cutter you have consumables, mainly tips. So what ever brand you buy, makes sure these parts are readily available.
don't have a real brake...just a cheap aluminum one from workshop tools. I do have a Hobart airforce 400..../miller.... Have cut everything from sheet metal to 3/8 thick plate. requires 220 and a air source....very happy with mine. Robert
At work we have a brake and shear made by "Enco". Total pieces of garbage. Here at home, my dad has a brake and shear made by Pexto. They work great. That's all I know.
