Can I change the points in a 71 mav 200 i6 to the duraspark from a 78 Granada with a 250? Is the distributor the same between the two? if I can what all would I need to change?? thanks in advance..

You need the module, coil, distributor, and wiring harness. The wiring harness will hook everything together and the only wires left over will be a red and white one from the module. Just hook both of them together along with a switch 12v source and your done.

Mavaholic is right. As a side note, you dont have to hook up the white wire to the switched source. This wire is only used (in stock applications) to retard timing 10 degrees to ease starting. That being said, if you hook it with the red wire, the timing will have to be advanced 10 degrees to compensate, but it's no big deal. On my car, I hooked the white wire to a pressure switch in the manifold for a "junkyard" boost retard. Works well!

My interchange manual doesn't go up to '78, but for Mavericks it shows different part number distributors used on 200's vs 250's.

I took a distributor out of a 74 maverick with a 250-6 and put it in my 200, and there were no problems, it fit like a glove. I dont see any reason why they wouldnt interchange with your 200-6. Although the distributor i took from the 74 was a points distributor... and there could be some variation.

I have a 170 (same as a 200) in my 71 which has a 250 distributor in it. It fits with no problem. I also put one in a 67 Mustang with a 200.
