Just in case anyone was thinking of this...I just put one of those electric trunk openers in. The kit was about $20 in JCWhitney. The solenoid that comes with the kit has a piston that moves in and out that is supposed to be connected to the trunk latch, but I found that the Maverick trunk latch is self-contained and only works when the key-part (with the little rectangular hole) is turned. To get the piston to work, I had to fabricate a little rod with a tab and pound it into the little rectangular hole, then route a wire to the piston such that when the piston pulled, it cycled the mechanism in the appropriate direction. If I had it to do over again I'd replace the tab with a little spool, and wrap the wire around it for a smoother turning action. It took about five hours to figure out all the mechanics, but it finally ended up working quite well. I hope this helps anyone who has plans to add this accessory in the near future! Happy Motoring, Atzy.
Sure... Sure. It's kind of "ghetto" but as soon as I take a picture I'll try to post it! Yours, Atzy.
