yes, it moves, but very little. You should be ok, ours is the same way. You'll love those CalTracs!

It has to move freely, with little or no resistance. When preloaded (track) it's not going to move much, but on the street, if you want suspension travel it's going to move quite a bit. Without the arm on the bottom you should be able to move it freely.

My subframes weren't square so I didn't have that problem.

Just an idea, maybe you can find a socket head bolt to use there. Being round, may give you some more clearance. Probably have to go to a fastener supply house to get one. They should be available in grade 5 or 8 which is mandatory on that piece.

    thanks for the insite guys...

i was just worried about the bolt hitting the subframe if the triangle piece moved. and if the trangle piece moved i thought the bolt would prevent it from working.

I am new to the post. Question, my sub-frame connectors are the same yours plus I have slapper bars. What are Cal-tracs? Where did you purchase them? and what are their purpose and cost? I have not taken the car to the track yet. The previous owner had air shocks on the rear which I discarded for regular shocks. With the Sub-connectors and fender well rub, I can't get but only 9' slicks under the rear.

I'm pulling over 500 horses from a stroked 351W (377), 4sp Toploader and 456 Gears, 780 carb, AFR 185 etc. All the goodies. The reason I am contacting you is because of the reports concerning lightness of the Mav's rear. I want to go in a straight line when I do go to the track. I have the rollcage alredy installed. Whatever pointers you can give will help. I do not have pictures to post. I am not that computer savvy yet. Maybe I should post feedback for the club's help. Your imput will help.

    TIA,

    Charles.........

    RE: Headers Used

We took the 1-5/8 header flange and welded on 1-3/4 inch tubes. I wanted larger tubes to expel the gases which in turn makes more HP. The PO had cut the shock towers and welded an reenforced steel plate, a neat set-up. This set up allows me to use larger headers. I installed a turnbuckle device instead of the front motor plate to keep the engine from raising on the left side which cause the header (long tubes) to bind against the transmission linkage. Cured that and the short throw toploader works smooth as butter. I will be ready for the tracks this spring.

Thanks to those that responded on the Cal-Trac issue. My car has a set-up similar to what I saw on that website.

    Re: Pictures

Do not have any downloadable pictures, However I have a digital camera, but never took the time to read the manual to learn how to download them via my USB Port. Always take the film to CVS. On my next visit, I will have them to download the the pics to a disk. Right now I need hard copy pictures in order to get my treasure insured. There is an Ins, Co. located in Penn. that will give me 10,000 coverage for 173.00$ per year. Good deal huh?

    Re: Pictures

Description: Vehicle is Dark Green/ black vinyl top(2 Dr) ground spoiler from early Mustang under front end, Will be installing edestal spoiler in front of rear Grabber Spoiler. I will be using the Grabber hood for Show and a fiberglass snockle hood for Go(racing). My plan to have a paint job soon. Have not decided on the same or some other exciting color like the old Light Blue or pastel colors of 1970.

    RE: Hooking up Sometime

Yes we do live close. I travel through your City during my travel to Dover AFB during Operation Desert Storm. I'm going to be busy this week and a portion of next week. I am retired and is in the process of moving to Rocky Mount, NC, sometime during the summer. I am free mostly during the regular weekdays. I will give you my schedule in a couple of weeks. As I mentioned on an earlier post, my car is stored in NC. PG County has one of Maryland's highest car theft rings in the State. Therefore, I,m not that any chances. Talk to you later.
