Ok, by looking at the way it is I've come up with 2 possible ways to mount the tranny. I could either make my own custom Xmember to drop the tranny a few inches or I can mount it stock and cut the tranny tunnel and make a cover/brace for it. I'm kinda heading for cutting the tranny tunnel up because it would be easier but I'm questioning the strength of the body when cutting that nice chunk of metal. But I will be making a decent sized brace to reconture the shape of the tunnel. eh, someone mentioned to me that messing up the pinion angle could suck, which makes me sway away from the custom xmember. all and any input is greatly appreciated!!

p.s. working at a sheetmetal place has a few perks..........very few

How much longer or shorter is a T5 than a C4. If they are the same length then you wont have to worry about pinion angle .

I would make a new mount myself . If you have a nice clean car I would try to keep it that way .

    Will,
you will have to make a new crossmember, there really isn't any way around it. To make the T-5 work, you just need to make a x-member that locates the transmission about 1" lower than it currently sits. Also, use a C4 transmission mount and NOT the stock t-5 mount. That will shave off an inch by itself. Making an x-member shouldn't really be that hard....
If you were to just use the stock mount as-is (which i doubt you'll even be able to do), and cut the tunnel, you would have a horrible pinion angle which can lead to lots of bad things. Best not to go there....

For my T5 in my '70 I used the stock cross member and mount. My pinion angle is 3 deg down. Just had to move the cross member to the rear of the mounting horns and use longer bolts. I know the tunnel and floor pan are different after 1970 so I don't know if this will help you. Mine's been working great for over 6 years now.
