I once heard that the vacuume advance was ajustable by inserting the proper sized allen key into the vacuume port on the diafram body. Turning the key would put more or less preasure on the diafram to increase or decrease the tension there fore adjusting the vacuume advance.

Is this true with some, all or any of the stock vac adv. dist.?

    1. If so, what size allen key is proper to use?
    2. does clock wise increase or decrease advance?

    Thanks,
    Mark

The vacuum cans that are adjustable with an allen wrench are aftermarket - Crane, Accel, etc. Stock units can be adjusted by changing or shimming the coil spring to adjust advance rate or the spacer length can be changed to adjust amount of advance. Access these parts by unscrewing the threaded portion at the vacuum hose nipple. Years ago Ford used to sell kits with assorted springs and spacers.
