Doing alil planning for when I do something that makes my hood not close.... Anyone heard of or used a scoop from racecomposites.com? Good/bad? Inexpensive enough to make you wonder... http://www.racecomposites.com/scoops.htm Sent a message to Maverick75 to see if he ever ended up with one Thanks! -Phil
Reasonable prices. Hopefully the bolt on scoops simply don't use all-thread embedded in the fiberglass. Those just wind up lifting off.
This will be my first scoop. Will you expand on what "all-thread embedded" means? Lifting off would be bad.
I think he means just a stud with the fiberglass molded around it, thus only the threads holding the stud. Would be better with a welded on washer on the top of the stud to improve the holding power.
With fiberglass parts.. price ALWAYS reflects the labor time, material quality, and overall design. If it's cheaply priced.. then it's cheaply made. You'd also be very surprised how much downward pressure gets exerted on a hood or cowl induction scoop at upwards of 100 mph +. Sun and heat warps the thinner stuff too.
Ok - Awesome! I'll remember to ask about that before I order any fiberglass parts. This would be my first fiberglass purchase as well. Your price theory is exactly what made me skeptical about this one. Never heard back from Maverick75 about whether he got one or not. On a side note - If I ever go 100+ mph, I'd be so giggly I probably wouldn't notice it flying off
