Hey everyone- installing a new radio and I cannot find the wire used for memory (to keep the presets, clock, etc). At least, I can't find which one of these it is. I read that the cigarette lighter wire is blue w/ red tracer and supplies constant power- but for some reason, mine has the spliced female bullet terminal wire (foreground) leading into a joint rubber multi-connector (left-mid of picture), which seems to bring it to the wiring harness. I suppose my questions are: Is this the lighter/constant volt wire I want to use, and do I need to find some sort of connector that will work with this or do I need to just cut it from the rubber/plastic multi connector and splice it there? Thanks all! (Apologies if this is a common-sense-answered question!) this is on a 70 Mav, btw.
Blue with red tracer is the dash lights... Same for all Fords '60s to '80s... Constant hot is generally brown or maybe yellow...
I haven't found a brown wire under the dash, and the yellow (black tracer, only one under there), which I believe would normally be the power wire, is, for some reason, spliced with the accessory line...
Yeah, I went back to my wiring diagram and saw its the same (it's a 70)- and connected To the emergency flasher. Which I suppose begs the question- where is the blue/white wire now?? I'm hoping the previous owner didn't remove it at some point. Thanks!
Alright, I got it. The thing was bundled up underneath the ashtray, essentially. Blue w/ white tracer, as the diagram says. It's got an L female terminal on it. Thanks for the help!
