What size rear end and gear ratio does a 1973 Maverick with a 302 with air conditioning have?

Its an 8" rear with either 2:79 or 3:0 ratio. More than likely its the 2:79. I've always found 3:00 behind standards and the 2:79 behind automatics although I wont say thats set in concrete.

So is the rear end an 8 or an 8.8?

    What size rear?

It would be an 8" rear. The 8.8's came out in the 80's.

Thats why its not a set in concrete. The 3:00 was an option plus I believe if you had factory air, it was standard.

It has a factory air set up. Looks like the dealership chopped it in thought...

When the a/c lines go through the radiator support, Its butchered a bit.
    LOL...Fools

ps. the air is still ice cold!

One thing I've learned on this board is never to make a definate statement about how these cars came.

The only thing definite about a Maverick is that Ford did put a Boss 302 in one AT THE FACTORY!!! A dealer in South Carolina ordered it that way and the factory did it.

He ordered it the same time that he ordered 10 Maverick Marauders.

    ;)

ok so the discussion got me wondering.......I went out and looked,at the cars I have here......no point here I just thought it was interesting......my 74 was a factory air 250-6 c-4 auto.....2:79
    my 75 parts car 250-6 c-4 non air.......3:00
    my 71 parts car 200-6 3 speed manual.........3:00
the tag on the 70 grabber I could'nt read anymore
    my wifes 73 4 door 302 c-4 a/c 3:00
out of all the cars I have here all of different years they all have the 8"ers under them......granted 2 of them were 4 lug.

    My 77 with 302/air has a 2.79.

That, with my taller wheels and tires, means I am probaly at about 2.25 final drive.
