The car is on jackstands in the garage now and i cant wait to get it down...i also just completed the front disc swap so a little info on front sizes would be greatly appreciated as well!! thanks guys!

    Is it a 9 or 8"?

All you need is simple math.
A Mavericks rear end is 56.5
    A 68 Mustang 8" is 59.25 so that's 2.75" longer, or 1.375" longer on each side.

On a regular maverick you can get away with up to 4.5" backspacing, but with the mustang one you should now be able to get away with 4.5 + 1.375 = 5.875"

Tire size varies with manufactures, but I'd stay under 275 to be on the safe side.

thanks for the quick reply..it is a 8 inch....so should i be looking at 15 inch wheels or 17 inch like on the later mustangs...also what if i cant find wheels with 6 in bs ...would 5.5 be sufficient?

5.5 should be fine, you just don't want something over 5.785. so 6" backspacing would not work.

Those late models wheels would be a perfect candidate, since most are 8-9.5" wide and are 5.5" backspace(+24mmm offset).

You would still need spacers in the front though.

    Yup those should work.

    275 would be with 17's (9-9.5 width)
245/45R17 in the front and 275/40R17 are known to fit.
Unfortunately with almost all 17" mustang wheels they all have the same backspace, which will not work on a stock maverick front. So you will most likely need to run spaces in the front. They're affordable though, so its not bad.

If you go with 15's (8" width)
225/60R15 in the front and 255/60R15 in the rear would look better In my opinion.

Also if you go with 15's you can usually find them in different backspace, so you should get some that have 4.25 backspacing for the front(that way you don't need spacers). Then 5.25-5.5 for the rear.

Here's a database with wheel and tire sizes, there's also pics if you wanna see how they look on the cars.
