Hi everyone, I was at the Ford weekend at MIR (Maryland Int’l Raceway) this past weekend and saw a boatload of Mavericks running there. I wasn’t able to run, I have some cam problems (wiped lobe) but I did have a great time. I truly believe that the good Lord as a reason for everything, since I wasn’t racing I got to talk to a lot of people one of them being a friend of mine from close to home. He told me of an older gentleman who as a 1976 Mercury Monarch for sell, with of all things a rear discs brake rear end. I only have to go 12 miles from my house to see this car, I get to this man’s house (first thing this morning) and sure enough there’s a Monarch. I ask this man how much he wanted for the car and at first he say’s 3 to 4 hundred dollars, so I just keep looking at the car and then he says that if I give him $200.00 I can have the car… how long do you think it took me to get the money out of my pocket! To make this long story a little shorter, I got a running 351W, C4 transmission, and Ford 9 inch rear with disc brakes for $200.00 and the car still has the factory mags. So for you guys out there who are looking, keep your eyes and ears open, and if someone need a rear disc rear end, one of the local junk yards here where I live has one. Just had to share my news! Hey Terry. I was talking to a friend of mine who knew sombody, who knew a guy who raced a white Mav out at the Mason Dixon track. Anyway they were talking about how the Mav couldnt stop and ran off the track, through a corn field, and in to a wood pile in sombody's yard. Would that be you??? Just Curious. Great find on the Monarch.
Not ME No Dennis, it's not me... thank goodness! I'm sorry to hear that someone had that kind of problems but if they couldn't get their car slowed down before the wood pile (I know the pile) that's one VERY fast car! Great to hear from you, your name came up at MIR in a Maverick conversation and the other people said that you had sent them some photos of the sprint. I told them that I too had seen some pictures but they had to see the car in person to really understand the beauty of your craftsmanship. Take care and I hope to see you next year at one of the advents. Terry Gates AKA Bossmav
