I have just got an new toy to play with and plan to restore and beef it up a little. I have a 70 Mav. with a 200 and a manuel trany and have acquired a C-4 out of a 72 Mav. that has a 10.5 converter with the ringgear on it I plan on running a decent size Cam so I will need a Stall converter but no one makes one with a ring gear on it. Does anyone know if there is a flexplate with the ring gear on it that will work for app.

    Ring gear

If you are talking about beefing up the 200 I would stick with a manual trans. I believe the 200 uses a 3bolt starter and am not sure if any of the other C4 bells with 2bolt starter will work on it. The other C4's can be interchanged with converters and flexplates to match the appropriate bell housing but I think the 200 is a loner in that area. Cost wise you may be ahead to get a good used V8 and swap over. The 250 will also go in and can be made to haul the mail quickly but the cost is high too. The old saying is "How fast do you want to go?" and the answer is always "How much money do you want to spend":D :D

    Maverick Fun

Am glad to hear that this is a father son project, this world needs more of this type of bonding. Started the oldest one in go kart racing at age 8 and is now 27, still racing cars and a fine mechanic, youngest is 19 and building a 66 Ford pu for street and strip. Hope you and yours will enjoy all the hours together. There will be disagrements but always put "fun" first. Sorry to ramble on but feel very strongly about this subject and love to race and tinker with stuff. You have a good base to start with in your Mav, 6cyl or V8 you can still have a ball with it, racing ,showing or just cruising. Good luck in the project.
