    FYI -

Was in the Mustang shop today and saw a display for Scott Drake 302 V8 Valve Covers. These are the blacked out aluminum slotted valve covers that look like the Shelby and Cobra Valve covers. They have officially licensed logos from Ford and have Fairlane, Galaxie, Comet (pre-71) and other logos. Underneath the logo it says "Powered by Ford"

I call the company today about the possibility of a

    M A V E R I C K
    Powered by Ford

valve cover with the actual Maverick script Logo.

Larry on the phone said this was an excellent idea and they had never thought above Mavericks but does realize that lots of Mavericks have 302's in them.

He said he would discuss it with Scott at their sales meeting next Tuesday. He said it would probably be a while even if they start producing them since the would need to make a one-off to present to Ford and get the licensing before they could starting mass producing them to sell.

I just wanted to get the bragging rights that it was my idea in case you see them on the shelf one day.

Chuck Stalkner had discussed this a couple years ago at the Roundup. However the cost at that time was around $300 a set. I dont know who he was going to get to manufacture them but I dont think he had enough takers to make it work. Hopefully you will have more sucess with Scott Drake. If you talk to them again, you might mention that they need to make a tall set to clear roller rockers along with the standard size. If they only want to make 1 size, go with the tall ones cause anyone can use them. I made my own Maverick valve covers with trunk script. I'd buy a set if you can get them done in the tall size.

    Good Luck

From their display - they only make one height cover - I haven't been able find a pic of all of their covers but they had a display in Mustangs Unlimited showroom in GA .

He told me a one off cover would cost me $600.00 and they would still have to clear it with Ford. All of their covers retail for $129.00.

I talked to Scott Drake and Auto Krafters about this same idea about a 1 1/2 years ago. They needed a minimum of 100 orders to do it. I hope they do it....I will buy a set.

    FYI Regarding valve covers

I agree that if they are made, they should be to clear roller rockers. They do make the spacers for those who aren't aware
in the event that you have a set of valve covers you are fond of that do not clear rollers. They look like %&*#! but they work.

Also, for those of us lucky enough to own a Comet, there are valve covers with the 60's style 'Comet' script made now.
Dearborn Classics carries them. I believe they are $130-$140 and I do not know if they are tall.

    Hey Mavaholic!

You need to buy a set of rocker arm covers and let me powder coat the following:

    MAVAHOLIC (your logo)
    Powder By Ford

In blue lettering on your chrome covers!

The Maverick logo would be really easy to do 8)

I've recently figured out how to run the high-temp masking tape through my vinyl cutter for masking purposes. Looks killer!

Just a thought seeing as how everyone wants something custom on thiers ;)

Hey Pegasus...about how much we talking for powder coating them with the Maverick logo on them? I have a set of stock covers, and I think they would look good in chrome and blue. Let me know.

Are the valve covers chrome or would they need a chrome base coat prior to having a blue MAVERICK logo put on them?

Two color jobs take awhile, the blue over chrome would be just a one-day turnaround ;)

I (and everyone else) don't like to advertise or anything on the board so if anyone needs something like this email me at

    tnorris@houston.rr.com

    Thanks,

How much to powder coat just the lid of an air cleaner (Shelby Style). I'll have it bead blasted before sending it. I was thinking of getting mine chromed but a chome looking powder coat would do if it was siginificantly cheaper.

    Thanks - Dan
