(comming at you a little mad) I'm putting an 85ish roller motor where once sat a 250six. The transmission is a c-4 and the flex plate is 13 1/4" in diamiter and 7 3/8" (4) bolt pattern for the torqe converter. The flex plate for the 302 is too large. I have the right bellhousing because I lined it up. l First question: what flex plat can I use or can I have my old-six one ballance with added weight? Number 2#: I am using a 68' 302 timing cover...is there a particular water pump I should be using, is it the crown vic pump? I ordered a 75' maverick pump and it has the right gasket but the bolt pattern isn't right. Maby the put the wrong one in the box...

HELP Please help.... my car is trashed

You probably need the 157 tooth flex plate. Summit has them for
$140. More than likely you have the 164 tooth plate.

    http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?part=26363

There were (at least) 2 different size bell housings on the C4's. The smaller one (which is what you have and what you want for clearance) uses the 157 tooth.

The bell housing bolt PATTERNS are the same for either size.

Don't know yet on the timing cover/water pump. Anyone else?

Relax, your car isn't trashed ("I" haven't worked on it yet :)
). Hang in there. We're gonna help you land this thing.

A check of the catalog shows the possibility of 3 different pumps between 65 and 78. There are left and right lower hose out outlets. Take the gasket that fits and use it to check the pumps offered before you leave the store. What are you going to do about the fuel pump situation? Does the cam have a fuel pump actuating cup mounted? If not its electric pump time.
You need the 157 tooth 5L flex plate to get the correct balance for that engine. The use of a 302 plate will result in vibration;)

You can use any 302 accessory package that uses std. water pump rotation and the 4-bolt crank pulley. Almost any Ford 302 from the 1970s will work, but you have to get everything from the same car/truck.

    the thing is....

The alternator brackets I have and I have two sets..... don't bolt to the water pump. I used an 89 crown vic pump and it seems to need spacers for the alternator brackets. Is this the wrong pump 89' is that reverse or standard rotation too. If it's correct I guess I'll have to get the stuff I need from a crown vic.
Thank....... I still need help on this shift linkage thing

The Crown Vic pump is std rotation, but it is the same depth as ALL other std rotation pumps, so that is not your problem.

The points where one attaches the alternator bracket to the pump are different.....using alot of washers it can be mounted but the plane in which it is is wrong....plus that's f-ed up anyway.........1968 timing cover 1989 crown vic aluminum water pump and an 89 crate motor

I put a 1969 351 in a 55 ford and used a 1972 water pump so the water outlet was on the driver side to match my rad. At first it was a nightmare, none of my pullys lined up(harmonic balancer was longer in 72 so water pump was longer to )match. Also alt. brackets were for right side exit water pump, the holes were in the right place but water pump was thinner on the right side than the old one.Make sure your alt. brackets are for the same water pump yout useing, also make sure your balancer is a match to water pump,if not your pullys will be about a half pully off! This will be funny once you get it worked out. hang in there!!
