    alright this is my situation i have no experiance at all with wiring car stereos or wiring of any sorts so hopefully one of you amazingly talented guys/gals can be so kind as to help me. i cant get any power to my radio. i installed the speakers 2 6x9's sony in the back everything is set except for the power to the stereo. i took some pics

    this is a pic of the wiring i have available coming outta my mav. Theres a brown wire that now looks black by the accelerator not sure if i use that or not. i cut the originial wire to the original stereo as you can see the connecter with the loose ends there. i figured doing something like that would give me power but no luck. the blue wire on the left with a loop connecting to the white female adapter was also plugged into the original radio i believe thats to the front dash speaker. other then that i have no idea what anything else is.

    now this is to the new sony xplod radio i bought. i know the green and purple are for the speakers as well as the white and grey wires. the blue wire has a white stripe. there is also a solid blue wire coming outta the sony xplod radio. from here on any help is appreciated.

    I think one of those blue wire was the feed for the light on the factory radio.

    Like Dave said, the blue wire is the dash light for the original radio. The black wire coming out of the same connector should be switched +12v. On your head unit, the yellow wire goes to a constant 12v power source, easiest place to get that is at the fuse panel. This is to maintain the clock and any presets in the radio when the car is off. I would strongly suggest a 10 amp inline fuse on that wire. The red wire goes to the black wire coming out of that plug, which should be a switched 12v power source. If you have no power to that wire with the key on, check the radio fuse in the fuse panel. Black wire out of the head unit is ground wire.

    I can't really say which color wires go to which speakers. If you don't have any kind of diagram specific to your head unit that tells you, then power up the head unit and set the fade all the way to front. and the balance all the way to right. Connect a speaker to each set of wires until you get sound. Mark the wires right front. Then set the balance all the way to left. Repeat and mark those wires. Then set the fade all the way to rear and repeat for both rear channels.

    For the head: the blk strip speaker wires are -, solid are +
    Grey = Front right
    Violet = Rear right
    Green = Rear left
    White = Front left
    Blue = Power Antenna
    Red = Switched 12v
    Black = Ground
    Yellow = 12v
