Hey Everyone, I am about to do on eof those shelby mustang front end drops on my maverick. I have the template made and everything is ready to go. Before doing this I searched this site for anyone talking about it or anyone who has done it before. I found lots of talk, but no one that has really actually done it. So has anyone done it? To prove that it really is possible to do? And if so, any side effects or problems that occured with it? Would like to hear some more info on it before actually going through with it on my Mav. Any info helps. Thanks

If you are referring to lowering the upper control arm mounting points by about an inch, I have done that. I did some other mods at the same time, so you may or may not have to do all this. 1. In my case, the new holes did not have the factory reinforcing completely around them in the new position. Remedy: I did nothing. 2. I also put springs of a higher rate in at the same time. I don't remember what car they they were originally for other than a Mustang (maybe a CJ). I cut about 1 3/4 coils off of them. This and the control arm relocation lowered the front end of the car about 3". This made the stock upper control arm bump stops too close to the UCA, restricting bump travel. Remedy: I cut the rubber stops back about 1/2", keeping the same tapered shape. Aligned front end with 1.5 deg negative camber, 2 deg positive caster, 1/16 toe-in. Other than normal considerations that you must give a suspension that is compromised toward extreme performance, no problems were encountered. No ball joint binding, no stress cracks, no parts breakage at all. I can't get scanner working, or I would have posted a photo of results.
