i ran my new transmission last night for the first time. first to second shifted great, then it shifted by itself from second to third. it shifted just before my shift light came on. i need to change the shift point by a few hundred rpm. i've read that you can change this by screwing in the screw in the modulator. my question is how much do i need to screw it in to move up say 300 rpm.

i turned the screw in 2 turns tonight. will try it this weekend at the track. i was told last night that since i shift manually, i can just remove the modulator to stop it from shifting until i move the lever.has anyone tried this. someone else told me if i did this it would shift all over the place.

I have ran it with the modulator and without, made no difference! I run with it now, but one time it screwed up on me at the track and I plugged it and there was no difference.

You can plug the vacuum modulator & shift manually. If you only race the car & don't drive it on the street - you should get a manual valve body for it. Then you will have to shift it manually, but the shifts will be so firm that you will chirp the tires with each shift (if your engine has enough power to do it). My '63 Falcon (289, C-4, and 4.11 gears W/ mini spool & slicks) bracket racecar chirps the tires each time. I shift at 5600 rpm.

    Have fun!!!
