    Has anybody done a small bumper conversion to one of the diecast 1/24th 74 Mavericks? I bought a busted up Maverick model at a yard sale that has the bumpers on it and was thinking I would like to build a diecast of my early Maverick by adding the small bumpers off of the model.

    I could buy a Jo-Han Maverick or a promo...but I really don't care for plastic models.

    no but did look at those 74's and said to myself a small bumper swap would be cool. Go for it !

    Diecast is way better then plastic plus everyone selling the johanns or promos think their going to retire early with asking price.

    let us know... thanx

    I have no idea who made the model I bought, but it does not appear to be Jo-Han. The diecasts are pretty cheap so I think I'll give it a shot. Hopefully they scale is compatible.

    I tried one time....i ended up lowering it, adding 10.5" slicks. But at the end i just left the bumpers off, i kinda like the look.

    Lowered front, no bumper.

    68 mustang bumper, didnt fit "just" right.

    Comparing the height, it's about an 1/8" lower than the one behind it. Also if you notice the front is just like a 69-72 valence.

    it doesn't have a valence at the back its just flat...ill end up putting the bumper back. Also added the tailpipes from a torino cobra kit.

    Still thinking about this conversion. My kids got me a white die cast Maverick for Christmas. I finally dug out some old model parts I'd saved hoping to build a replica of the way my car looked when I drove it in high school. The problem (I think) will be that the die cast is 1/24 and the models are 1/25. I haven't actually tried the fit but the model parts will be a little smaller. Time will tell. ;)
