There’s an episode of the original “Star Trek” called “Spock’s Brain”, in it, Dr. McCoy puts on a thinking cap and knows how to re-attach Spock’s brain—I wish there was something like that for Mavericks with the 200!

The idle is rough, then smooth, rough, smooth…eventually the engine stalls. Pertronix ignition and coil. I know the alternator is a bit weak. My uneducated opinion is it has something to do with the fuel delivery/carb. Vacuum hoses look good, sprayed the base of the carb, no change. Pressing on the pedal a little made it rougher, so I eased off, kept it steady pressure, then the alternating speeds idling occurred.
    No AC, no power brakes.

This is a link to a YouTube video I made. Turn up the volume a bit to hear the alternating idle.

If needed, I can make a better video.
    Thanks Everyone!

you could at least open hood and shoot video!!!

i,d start with a compression check. then reinstall with new plugs and wire. new fuel filter and a carb rebuild. Routine maintenace stuff!

    Agreed.
I’ll shoot a better video on Wednesday.

The solution is a V-8 swap...

I,m recalling i had problem simular to what you,re describing. I dont drive my truck with holley carb much.

My needle and seat in carb was all gummed up opened or closed from dried ethonol fuel. This cause a fuel starvation or flooded condition. it ran erractic and eventually shut down.

I suspect same going on with yours.
