Hey the hubby has a 1970 Maverick. The speedometer started bouncing around tonight. Do you have any ideas of what could be causing this issue? Thanks
You do not have your location listed. If you are in a cold climate, it might just be the cold. They can be cleaned and lubed. Use bicycle cable lube for best results. Then a dab of white lithium on the cable bushing on the speedo head.
I personally never used wet lube on a speedometer cable. I have always used dry powdered graphite like this. https://www.amazon.com/Panef-Corp-Powdered-Graphite-Lubricant/dp/B0016GZQ60 Over time for me the wet lube always became gummy and gave me problems.
I'm located in Cypress, Tx(suburb of Houston)...so not that cold, but it has been in the 30s-40s as of late I really appreciate the replies back. I will let him know your suggestions. You guys rocks! Thanks!
