You can get the nutserts new out of a mustang parts catalog or go to a good auto body supply house and buy em.Get the install tool also or you will go nuts trying to get em to lock up in the holes you drilled in the doors for em.Auto krafters sells em too.You wont have much luck trying to re-use the old ones.good luck.

Yes, get new ones...you can not save the old ones. They compress similar to a pop rivet when installed.

Slider, do you have the tool? I have plenty of steel nutserts in the correct size. without looking I believe they are 8-32

I have a complete Rivnut kit...
Too bad you aren't close by. It would take just a minute to do.

I guess you are just installing one side?
There are several folks here that had to reinstall the mirrors and moved them forward... To the position of the early years. Seems to be more comfortable placement. Just heads up in case you are working on both sides.
Ford moved the mirrors closer to the driver on our cars in 71 or 72... Forgot which.

I have seen the tool and the rivnuts at Northern... kinda pricy too from what I remember.

Harbor Freight has a complete kit with insert tool and rivnuts fairly cheap.

I'm guessing that's the name for "the thing that spins and won't hold the bolt" on my mirror! LOL I was trying to figure out how to get it out, and what to ask for to replace it. thanks1!

I had to go from the inside of the door and hold the nut while a friend unscrewed it.
