I have a 70 mav w/ a 72 200 and heres my dilemma: My car has a new rebuilt carburetor, the timing is great, it accelerates with out hesitation, and pulls great to about 3000-3200 rpm. Then it all of a sudden falls on its rear. So ive pretty much ruled that its my ignition system mis firing, or ive got some wicked stuff goin down w/ the valve train. The ignition system has been converted to the pertronix solid state. Any ideas, or other possibilities?

Thanx for any info you may be able to provide,
    Kyle

I'd check the float level first. Probably too low.

I agree on the float level, also some other things to look at would be fuel pressure from pump, total advance curve, coil voltage and yes, valves being to tight etc. Try to eliminate each source of potential problems one at a time and should be able to find the gremlin.

Stock fuel pump will do that too. Put a high volume Holley or Carter pump on it, and it will go away, if that is the problem.
