As you see I'm the new guy lol. I don't know much about this stuff but my father-in-law has a 1970 maverick, standard tran. 3 speed on the column with a straight 6. I'm guessing it's a 250 not really sure. I believe everything on the engine and carb is all original stock. Anyways, the engine needs a rebuild but right now we are tinkering with the ingnition trying to replace the old point system with a computerized performance coil and distributer and all that. I'm thinking we need higher plug temps because it's eating a little oil and fouling the plugs. We've been having a hard time finding a distributer for a 6 cyl. I think eventually we might go with a 302 if we can find one but for now I think we will stick with the old 6. Looking for the distributer and any other inventive ideas and specs you guys can pull out for the new guy hehe.

I got my lazy butt of the computer chair and looked at the vin seems it should have come stock with a straight 6 170cid and I don't know of any modifications. It's also a 69 even though it seems they lump all the late 69's and 70's together.

    Any ideas welcome folks!!!!

Newguy; if it has the key on the dash and not the column, it is a 69.5. I have one of those.

Makes it a '70. Good luck with the car, and keep us updated. We are always here to help.
