I washed my engine with a pressure washer and now it wont start i thought i might have got the plugs wet but i let it sit for two days and it still wont fire. I have a stock V-8 302 2V in a 73 comet ... is there anything that could possibly come off with a pressure washer and afftect the cars starting or something like that?

PS .. No i did not get water in the carb

How about the points? Pull off the distributor cap and make sure your points are good and dry.

like phy just said...take off dist cap... put a hair dryer to it. do the same at all plug wire connections. also point the hair dryer at the coil for a while. then pull a coil wire and have somebody see if you get spark. uhhhh next time use simple green and a brush to clean the engine. rinse with a slow running hose and brush. not the power washer. best of luck

Have you learned not to do this again?:D
Broken wires and all sorts of things could have happened.

oh if I had a nickel for everytime I have gone to a car wash to get a motor clean. So many times that I always take a can of WD 40 and a roll of paper towels. Did you know that WD 40 displaces water? Never have i been stranded though.

I have pressure washed many engines but I alway do it while the engine is running. Then leave it running afterwards to make sure it drys out. Never had a problem yet.

Whenever I wash motors , the diistributor cap cracks . Dont spray water at the dist. cap !

For that matter dont spray alternators , sparkplugs , or anything else that gets hot and may crack if suddenly made cold .
