What does it take to remove a steering column? How much time, difficulty? I found a 73 LDO 4 door Comet with a floor shift automatic and bucket seats.

I don't know the specifics, since I haven't completely had my column out, but pretty close. There are only the plugs to unplug, a couple bolts to separate it from the dash, and some bolts at the firewall. Then you disconnect the rag joint from the column and the steering box, and pull that baby out. As far as being worth it, I would say definetly take it. Floor shift columns are hard to find - So are floor shift assembilies and LDO buckets. Dive on it!

How do you remove the rag joint? Are special tools required?

I don't think so. It's just a couple nuts and bolts.
