I have a 72 Comet with a worn out column. What I would like to do is replace it with an aftermarket tilt, floor shift version, blk powder coated with Ford wiring to plug into my harness. Does anyone know off hand what diameter and length my column is now. Also if I were to order a Summitt column do I need to order a special kit to adapt to my Comet. My car was a column shift so it has the linkage bar on the firewall side that isn't being used. What have other members bought to replace their column that was a easy fit? Thanks

I know of NO aftermarket column that fulfills all your needs/desires.

Size of the Steering Shaft ... You'll probably have to break out your measuring tape and after getting the size .. call IDIDIT .. they make a whole bunch of different sizes .. some for Mustangs and I'd wager that you would be able to
locate a shaft that was really close to what you already have and you could ' modify ' a new column to your specific
    needs.

I called IDIDIT and they wouldn't give me the time of day unless I was working on a try 5 Chevy. I don't know of a GM column harness that will plug into a Maverick . If any one does let me know. Good luck.
