Has anyone found a center link for 73 Maverick with 302,PS,A/C and C-4? I can only find non power steerinng applications. Did most everyone go to manual conversion for ease of parts availibility? If anyone has some insight let me know of your experiences with this. I am also converting to unassist disk I got from a cancered 74 Comet GT. It had the Mustang II style disks with unassist. I'm not to sure if the spindles are up to snuff. I understand that they are a bear to find replacements for.

    Hey,

Just my opinion, but if I had it to do over again I'd probably have gone to the manual conversion too, just because all the hoses and junk underneath always get in the way of stuff. Anyways, I kept PS and I'm just trying to continue putting up with it.

As for the part, I have a center link from a '77 with 302, PS and C-4 (no A/C). I'm not sure if the '77 is the same part, but if you want it, let me know!

    Good luck!

I think that these parts should be the same. As for the power steering, I feel that it is a nice option, unless you are going for less weight and a little cleaner appearance. I will always keep mine because it is just so nice. Very little effort to turn; makes driving and controlling a little better. Just my opinion. If you want the power, go with it.

Thanks for the input! I recon parts availability is going to drive this train.

Jake, I'm not sure what you meant about the Mustang style disc brakes but so you know, they are not the same as the Mav/Comet discs. The Mav/Comet 74-77 and the Granada/Monarch, Lincoln Verssilies up to 80 are all the same. None are Mustang II. The Mustang disc is 9", Mav disc is 11". Big difference.

ATZY... what problems are you having with power steering? I just replaced all my hoses after there 20+ years of service. I have no ongoing problems with power.

Well, most of my problems are self-imposed, really. I'm sure after a while I'll dig myself out of the holes I'm in...

    1. My long headers had to be scrunched to fit in and around the steering box and the assist cylinder. I can't turn from stop to stop (max left to max right) yet because of some interference, but I'll fix it by putting in new headers. I have the 88-400s now, just waiting to be put in.

    2. I haven't replaced all the hoses yet, so there are some little leaks here and there that I address one at a time. There's a mysterious one right under my PS cooler...could be one of the clamps gone bad.

    3. I have an '85 pump with '75 Mav everything else for PS, so I had to go to a local shop and have them make me some custom HP hose with the '85 end on one end and the '75 end on the other. It worked out well, but it was just an inconvenient bother.

Overall, I think PS is a great benefit and over time I'll probably have everything addressed. Thanks for asking!

    Yours,
    Atzy.
