If you use the steering conversion kit, from power to manual, what else do you need to replace? Is it possible to use the coversion kit and then replace everything to manual except the smaller ratio steering box. (The conversion kit is available from Advance Auto) Thus retaining the shorter turning radious and getting rid of all the non functional junk from the lsteering linkage. If anyone has addressed this, I ask again because manual center links cannot be found new and I don't believe keeping all that additional unused power steering components need to be left on adding dead weght. Anyone got some views or ideas?

For several reasons, I'm using a Maverick PS center link and idler arm on my Mustang. I used a PS to manual conversion and all it takes is to unscrew the old valve, screw on the new conversion, and remove all the old PS stuff.

Beware that the steering effort when stopped is pretty high, esp with wider tires, but once rolling, it's pretty nice.

    I've done it!

Ok here is what I did...

    1) If you are going to drive this on the street, you will find that only replacing just the power cylinder with just the adapter will make steering a little tough.
    2) What I did was replace the power steering cylinder (adapter) and the power steering gear box (with a manual) but kept everything else the same.
    3) Now I have a complete manual steering system and my car steers very well.

Good luck I hope this helps.

Thanks for the information Bossmav! The setup you used seems fairly simple and straight forward without to many changes. I am glad to find out that with the adapter it can still be rough to steer. That is good info to know prior to decision time. If anyone else has experienced the adapter, power to manual let me know. This is a great place for informaion! Thanks again Bossmav!

Scrapper60, My steering parts are all for V-8. Sorry buddy! I haven't decided which way to go yet, not to mention the $'s involved. My car is at the beginning of an entire tear down and rebuild from the wheels up. If you can use any parts I have left let me know. I'll keep you posted with what I have left. But let me worn you this Grabber was rode hard and put away very wet! I would't recommend anyone using any of my suspension parts. I'm going to replace it all one way or another.
