This past weekend I was at the Ford Nationals in Maple grove, PA and I was very pleased to see a large number of Mavericks there. I saw some very beautiful Ford cars from the early years to the present; some were racing and some just for show. I saw one Maverick with the Bobcat taillights and one with the Cougar lights, so I thought I would share mine with you fellow maverick lovers. Sorry I don’t have my back bumper on yet or my front clip and bumper I’m still working on them. This mod wasn’t very hard to do and if enough show interest and would like me to get into details I will. Hope to see some of you at a meet or show sometime. Terry Gates AKA Bossmav
I have been thinking of installing Bobcat tail lights for years, but I think Im going to install the Cougar lights instead. Tom Hackman's Maverick looked great with them and so does yours.
69-70 shelby I guess I forgot to say that my lights aren't Cougar lights, but are 69 or 70 shelby mustang lights. What old carol did was take 64 T-bird lights and replace the lens and bezels with his own touch of class. I found a set of 64 T-bird lights and bought new lens and bezels from Virigina Mustang Supply. Good luck with yours, this mod is fairly easy to do. Terry Gates AKA Bossmav P.S. I thought I would include a front shot too... I really like this one.
Hey Terry!! Great front shot of your Mav. This is Jacki--dark haired girl who LOVED the paint job & lights on your car in Maple Grove!!! I thought I would start picking everyones brain!! LOL Hope you packed up and made it home from Maple Grove without a problem! -Jacki
Tail lights Hi. I'm glad to see someone shares my taste in tail lights! '68 Shelby, and they've been on my '70 Maverick since 1972.
Class of our own Thanks bmcdaniel, I was hopeing I wasn't the only one with this idea. I'm going to post the step by step instructions for this mod next week after the holiday.
Here's ours, the first time we had them mounted on the tail panel this time I flattened out the panel and reshaped the raised section to fit the lights this aliminated the add on look.
Very Nice! Thomas, I hadn't seen your car before but everyone else was saying how nice it is and now I too can say the same thing. Very nice touch flating out the raised parts! Are your lights from a cougar? They look a little longer then the ones on my car. I specially like the way you brought out the exhuast... looks like a Shelby! Terry Gates AKA Bossmav
No, they're t-bird like your just the bezel is a 64 and the lens is 65. The 64 lens has a big bird in them thats why the bezels have no vertical bars. Ran across them in the wrecking yard and could'nt pass them up. The reflector part was jacked so I painted them white that also makes them look differant from your, I like the way your lenses look better than ours.
The truth and nothing but the truth! Ok here goes. First… please don’t anyone come right out and call me a liar, you can think I am but please don’t say it. I run an 11: teens to low 20 standard 1/4 mile, 1/8 mile 7 seconds flat (I need a new fuel pump real bad). Now for the liar part, which I’m not; Standard ford 8 inch rear with an a Auburn differential, Richmond 4.11 gears, standard axles and drive shaft, (yes, you read that right) 15X26X10 ET drag slicks, Hurst drag shocks (so everyone doesn’t ask where I got them from… eBay!) and my traction bars are the same ones the Shelby used on his Mustangs. And that is the truth, my car is build FORD TOUGH!!!!! Thanks for asking. Terry Gates AKA Bossmav P.S. I have over a hundred passes on this setup
tails lights Hi bossmav, Your tail lights look great! And so does the rest of the car too! I would love it if you could post the step by step, we just picked up a set of 64' tail lights to put on our 71' Grabber. Also could youlet me know, do yours sequence? If so, what else do we need to hook that up too? Any info would be great! Thanks, Lynne p.s. heres a pic of our Grabber
oops...... Sorry all, don't know why my pic can out that way, I was trying to make it smaller!!!! Lynne
why your pic is so big I am pretty sure the reason your pic is so big is that you resized the image without resizing the canvas size. Thats why there is so much white around the pic. Maybe this helps...
