Did the four cylinders in these ever come with serpentine belts? I looked at some and they look like the falcon six but with two less cylinders. But if they do have serpentine maybe they can swap over to the L6s. Also I remember someone said the rack might swap. Well in a couple of hours ill be getting my hands on a 89 to work on. So i can measure it and see if its possible.

Main problem with swapping the I6's to serpentine is there is no removable crank pulley, it is made together as part of the damper. Don't see why the V belt part couldn't be machined down and have a serpentine pulley put over it though. Water pump and alternator would be easy.

The four cylinder in these are the same. The crank and dampner are one. And on wiki it says they were made using existing L6 tools. Im hoping they have the same bolt pattern.

Er i mean crank snout size and keyway. Not bolt pattern.

So I did some searching on fordsix and a lot of guys are running tempo 2.3 pistons in their 200/250. They have the same bore and compression height. Also the same pin diameter. Its an easy way to get 9.3:1 CR even with the thick gasket. Theres also a guy working on making 2 heads into one six cylinder head. They use the same bore spacing and bolt pattern. This is getting interesting. And as a few of us already know the efi system can be made to work on the 6s as well.

So i barely know how steering setups work. What do i need to measure to see if it works? From tie rod end to tie rod end? Also it has to be rear steer right?

    rear steer.

the length between the inner tie rod sockets on the rack and pinion need to be the same distance as they are on the stock centerlink.

the travel of the rack and pinion from side to side needs to be close to travel of the stock center link. i think this is where most people have problem. a rack and pinion doesnt travel as far as a center link. the arm on the spindles where the tie rods link up would need to be shorter to create the same turning radius.

Thanks Bryant I`ll take the measurements! And an update on the serpentine setup is not good, apparently all of them had V Belts, even up to 94.

So today I finally drove up here to see the tempo. And when i got here i realized that i totally forgot my jack at home. Even worse my dad and his neighbors dont have one. :slap: so ill have to wait till tomorrow to get the measurements. Oh but I did notice that this one has a serpentine setup. So at least one thing went right.
