This one’s got me stumped! Now this isn’t a Maverick problem but it is a Ford problem and you guys are the sharpest I know.
I have a 1992 F150 that is driving me crazy, the cab light and the bed light keeps coming on when they should be off. I can open the door and close it and they will go off for about 20 or 30 seconds, then they come back on. Any ideas? Thanks in advance for any and all input.

This is a problem that plaques alot of newer fords ... My wifes mustang had a similar problem with the interrior light and most of the company trucks that we have are fords that have the same problem ... My truck personally went back to the dealer twice and its still not fixed ... I got tired of worrying about it and took out the bulb ...

my friend has a ford ranger.... we thought it was haunted or something.... but what it was was the door pins like mavgrab said. If u push them in and they stay on, your pins have a short, or are just plain faulty... nothing serious. Ironically, my friends truck would do it only sometimes... then we took the truck rootin', and havent had the problem since. :)

but yes, check the door pins.

same thing happened on my 94 tbird

I pushed the button in by hand, and the light turned off.

what was happening was that the whole button module/unit was actually being shoved internally into the frame every time the door closed. The whole unit would get pushed in so far, that it would no longer contact the door, door would shut off, light stays on.

The only thing I did was to physically grab the thing and pull straight out, now it would contact door again, this happed every couple of months or so.

I bet that is the same prob with your truck as they probably use the same pieces
