The Volt

Wish they would say how much it will cost to replace the batteries and how often they'll need to be replaced. And, that half of the electrical energy is lost in the transmission lines. Guess those are "Inconvenient Truths".

 

There was one that burned some guys garage down, it was a big story that disappeared from the news pretty quickly.

 

Yeah, I'm not sure about the battery for a Volt but I looked up the main battery on a Prius a while back and it was only $3500!!! The owner wanted me to get it replaced because she said the accident was going to make it go bad. Her car was already out of warranty. It was damaged in the front end and the battery is in the rear! HA! Good try!

 

I forgot about, they wrote off a Hybrid Escape at my buddies body shop, because it got rear ended, and it wasn't bad.

 

There's no way I would want to own an out-of-warranty Hybrid of any kind. Anything related to the electrical systems are astronomical!!!

 

Laptops run on those same batteries, I know of few that don't run AT ALL without being plugged in after three years. Many last only 1/3 or so of the original battery life after a year or two. So...

I had a dealer with a Prius on his lot with over 300,000 miles on it. Was asking like $6900 for it. It did sell.

 

Most definitely! When gas hits $4.01 a gallon in the states, EVERYTHING low mpg starts to sell.

 

I cant imagine driving a Prius for 300,000 miles.

 

You'd think it would be pretty worn out...

 

I for one am glad Chrysler ditched the Hybrid plans. We do have a Durango hybrid but very few and we dont repair them at our dealer. I have next to no training on them so its a workplace hazard. No interest at all in hybrids from this guy. They dont work well for our driving habits around here anyhow. The large majority of our drivers are too aggressive to take advantage of a Hybrid.
Chrysler views Hybrids as a very expensive stepping stone.
Full electric has lots of hidden Cons people dont realize.

 

Hybrids in general are a giant steaming crock. They aren't more efficient, they aren't more economical, and they aren't in any way better for the environment. My Maverick has a smaller carbon footprint than a hybrid, especially a plug-in or full electric. There was vastly less environmental cost to build it, it's a rolling poster child for recycling, and it may burn more fuel but at least it's up front about it instead of sneaking in coal power from 200 miles away and pretending it's pixie farts. In terms of economy, no amount of fuel I've bought has equaled what I'd spend getting bent over on the cost of one of these perpetual motion machines. It makes no sense at all.
