I ordered the Braided lines from Mustangsplus today. They said I needed to get the adapter from the line to the caliper was that the case for you also? If so what did you use? Also thank you for the heads up on the lines.
I'll have to look later when I get home but I sware that they went in just like the stock lines. I'll take pictures and post them
I'm not TH but I figured I might throw my two cents in. We are in the process of doing this now and this is what we've got. We are using 15" -3 lines for the front calipers. The fitting we are using from the lines to the factory calipers is an Earl's part number 591932. This fitting in -3 AN to 7/16-24/F. The fitting screws right into the caliper but you also need a 7/16 copper washer for each fitting just like the factory line uses. We haven't gotten those yet, too much other stuff to worry about now. Hope this helps. Good luck. Greg
Thank you both. Thomas, I hope you're right, it didn't make sense to me that it would be different than a mustang but I didn't know. And I would like see a pic of them also. Runum, my only problem with going your route is that I had already ordered them when I posted but thank you for the info, and that fitting may be something I need.
Just pulled the wheel and I do have an adapter from the hard line to the braided. sorry for the fuzzy picture I would redo it but, I already put the wheel back on.
After looking at that picture it looks like there is an adapter there too, so now I need to take another look
Thomas, thank you for the pic. The guy told me that I would only need an adapter on the caliper end, and that is what it looks like in your photos also. So I guess you don't remember the fitting you used? Or maybe more importantly where you got it? Thanks again, Ward
Wow sorry for the bad info it's been a few yrs and many beers sence I did this, no excuse I should have check first. I don't remember buying the fitting I thought they sent it with the lines. Runum has the right fitting it's a 7/16-24 thread to the caliper and a AN-3 fitting for the line, Earls part number 591932 summit sells it for $11.39 and it says a pair.
Hey Thomas I can't tell by the picture if you have a copper washer also installed under the 7/16 end of the fitting. I don't have them but I have assumed they are needed. I wasn't sure if this adapter would seal without it. Do you have the copper washers on your calipers? Thanks
Thank you both for all the info, I guess I'll get those ordered today. Can't beat this board for help!!!!!
adapters make sure the fitting you use will stand brake line pressure. Most are not rated for the 1200-1500 PSI used in emergency stops.
Good point rickyracer. How do you find that out? I ordered my stuff from this location: http://www.pitstopusa.com/EARBRAKEFITTINGS.asp They list the Earl's part number 591932 as a brake fitting. I went to the Earl's home page at: http://www.holley.com/HiOctn/ProdLine/Products/EPP/EPPA/592032.html They also list the same part number as a brake part adapter but neither site gives any tech spec for the pressure rating. I just assumed it was OK.
