If you go with 4" backspacing, you will probably have interference with the tire rubbing the leaf spring. You might even have trouble with the tire around the lip of the wheel opening. That is a lot of tire. MaverickMan just put some real big stuff on his and posted. Maybe he can lend some insight. Dan
i don't know about any insight... maybe i can give a bunch of my balony and loud mouth advise but as for the 4 inch rear spacing, by looking under my car i'd say 265 would be about it. 275 would be pushing it. like dan said it might hit the leaf spring. I know for sure with a 4-1/2 rear spacing will hit with just a 255/60-15... that i've tried. If you have some sort of traction bar on your car (ie: lakewoods not cal-tracs) I'd say for sure anything bigger then a 265-15 would hit the traction bar because the diameter of the wheel isn't big enough in a 15 inch. If your running a 17 or larger i'd say you wouldn't have to worry about it hitting the traction bar because the diameter is larger and doesn't come close to that area. don't forget about rubbing on the outer fender as well.. make sure you roll the inner fender well. if your cars lowered it might rub even more. i'm almost sure one of the guys out there are running this combo your asking about. however i don't think their car is lowered as much as mine. on the other had i have seen some 15x9 on a maverick with 275's but they were like sticking out... not my bag.. but it works. i know that some have moved in their leafs as well but then again thats more time and money. so in conclusion almost anything is possiable it just a matter of what kind of look you are going for. good luck :bananaman
i was thinking of going with 15x8 American Racing Tailgunners and 235/70r15's. or should i go down to 225/70r15. maybe even a smaller sidewall?
well what I`m looking for is a tire and wheel combo that will give me the best handling so what do you all think on that . 15 x 8 wheel with a P265/50 ? or 16 x 8 with a 225/50 ? thanks.
we have 215/70/14 in front and 235/60/14 in back.. also addes kyb gas-a-just shocks in front and kyb g2s' in back not exactly a porsche but it reall handles nice(except on roads that have truck tire ruts in them. gets kinda bounced around )
i'd go with 16s and use a 255/60-16 in the rear and a 245/45-16 in the front if your looking for some handling. both will fit with 3-1/2 inch backspacing or 4 inch backspacing.
