390 in a mav will make a 351 W swap look easy. Its ok for a dump truck, but in a Mav...I wouldnt bother.

Being out of a dump truck, I would make sure it's not a truck engine F.T's i think they are called. There were differences in the engines that came in the big trucks from the standard car/light truck engines. I personally wouldn't bother with putting an F.E. in a Maverick. It's a big heavy engine, you can make more power cheaper with a 351W.

Justin, I went through this exact same dilemma a couple years back. I have a free 390 that I was hoping was a 351w in a dump truck at work. It ended up being the wrong engine and there is NO WAY it will fit between our fenders. It is the one Jamie is talking about.

Pull the numbers off of it and make sure, though.

Performance parts would be a bugger to obtain, wouldn't they?

i can get some car manifolds and the autolite 4 barrel carb, but cams and crap shouldnt be a problem, they were in mustangs afterall

You need to go look the engine over and get any numbers you can find off of it, and pics if possible. My guess is it's a big truck engine, and not worth messing with. I'd still never bother with putting an F.E. in a Maverick, regardless.. Build that roller motor into a 347.

Not worth it,won't go in a mav without major surgery, and the mustang had more room between the shock towers.

If its in a big truck it might be a 391 which is a big torque low RPM boat anchor. I wouldnt trade a roller for that engine. The engine family was 361 and 391.

fe engines cost twice what a sbf costs to build. Parts are hard to find and most parts stores want have simple stuff for them such as header gaskets. There is no way in he!1 I would fool with another one of those engines. I have one in my truck, it looks cool but thats it
