i'm running a straight 6 250 with an auto tranny in my 75 ford maverick. i'm looking to put a standard in it. can anyone name all the different tranny's i can put in my car. also, if i could get my hands on a v8 302 with a manuel transmission would i be able to put it in my car? one last thing, could i put a grabber hood on my car?

    Thanks
    Matt

You can put a 3, 4 or 5 speed standard transmission behind your 250. 5 speed is most desired because of the overdrive. The 250 has the same bell housing as the 302. The biggest obsticle in switching to manual is the clutch linkage. If you got the bucks, you can go with a hydraulic set up. You will need a clutch pedal assembly and if you car has power brakes, you will have to convert it to non power brakes. Good luck finding a Comet or Maverick 302 with a manual cause they are really hard to find, but if you do, it will have everything you need to bolt it all in.

    I've been cloned! :D

The Mav 3-speed is kind of a mushbox, I'd go with a 4 or 5 speed.
