I got my car when we lived in Mexico and it had a matching toolpouch, with no tools (with the interior tan colour, in vinyl), made out of Naugahyde, no less! After 30 years (I think), it's kind of ratty and due for an upgrade. My wagon has a side panel storage box for tools and oil and battery cables, but I was wondering if Ford ever made them or offered them for sale. It's mostly for roadside emergencies anyway, so you wouldn't carry a massive range of tools, but something like a few box wrenches for a broken belt or changing a fuel pump or wiper blade, but I figured I'd ask if anybody has a favourite assortment for roadside fixes. I want to make a new toolpouch, but I'll use a piece of Naugahyde again from an upholstery shop and add a couple features like a zipper, a stiffener (thin styrene or PVC sheet) in the flat sides and loops to hold the tools in place. Mercedes used to include a nice canvas one, but they always rotted from the humidity and the tools got rusty, so I'll throw in some of those little pouches that come with most electronic devices to suck up any moisture. I keep them in my tool drawers in my basement workshop and they seem to do a good job, after 10 years. Any other features? I got the idea from a Thunder Bird site, where they had an original brochure offering a bunch of goodies for T-bird owners, that seem handy, but not lasting (plastic dual-voltage - 6 and 12 volt with lighter connector - flashlight and batteries, bungie cords, tire gauge, etc.) http://www.coolcats.net/media/ Might as well make something useful that won't rattle and wreck the tools, right?
