Found a set of rings and caps from a early 70's Mustang for sale. For 14" wheels. Waiting on pictures but wondering if they will fit stock Maverick 14" rims? I think they usually fit a rim made for them so I am concerned about them fitting a regular wheel.
    Anybody know for sure?
    Thanks
    Clint

There were 2 trim rings - one is 2 1/4" deep and the other is 3". the 3" one fits on the 14X7 wheels and the 2 1/4" fits everything else including the really skinny 4 1/2" wheels on the stock Maverick.

To measure a ring - lay it flat on a table and lay a ruler or yard stick across the top and measure from the table to the yard stick edge. Don't tray and measure the angle edge of the ring itself - it will screw you up on the size.

Thanks. I will see if the guy will measure them for me. That is stuff I would never have known so I sure appreciate it.

When he sends the pictures - post one with the slot for the valve stem in it - I can usually tell by seeing them which ones they are.

There is also a 3rd size. I can't recall the size...but I have (3) stacks in my garage of the (3) different sizes.

Well... Doesn't seem to matter. He has not sent any pictures or answered my email. I will give him all the time he needs though as he is only asking $25 and I am in no hurry what so ever. It will be years before I need pretty wheels. lol
I would rather go disc brakes and Torque Thrusts or Cragers in 15" wheels but money will always be so tight I doubt that will work.
Thanks for all of the knowledge

He says they are the 3" rings so I guess they won't fit my stock 72 wheels right?
Are the wider wheels hard to find or expensive? I can get these rings and caps for $25 does that sound pretty good as long as they are not beat up and worth me getting rather I can use them right away or not?

The 3" are for 14x7 wheels - as far as I know, they were made in 5 lug only. (Mustangs used these)

$25 for a set is really good if they are decent and you have a use for them. If they are banged up, forget them.
