The mav is gone but i'm still here!
2001 nissan frontier 2.4 Twin cam 2WD auto.

when its cold it runs fine and everything no problem, but after a warm up of about 20 minutes the thing dies....you floor it and it will only go 10mph.

    it had 3 codes

    P0100 mass air flow circuit
    P0100 pd (same as above)
    P0420 catalytic.

took out the MAF sensor and cleaned it but no luck, i even tried finding a replacement but i couldn't find a cheap one..

how to you test a MAF sensor to see if its working?

also somethings wrong with the charging system it only read 12 volts when i test it. And after testing it 3 times the engine died. But the lights don't dim or anything, and it has no problem staring up or powering the accessories

    any ides on whats wrong?

    thanks

it gave a catalytic code does the exhaust stink or sound muffled // put your hand by the tail pipe and have someone rev it up to see if it is flowing good

-------------------- sounds like a clogged catalyic converter ----------------------------
    if this is the problem

either cut the pipe at the end of the cat then use a steel bar or something and brake all of the old cat up then rev the motor up to get it all out then weld it up

or just have the cat replaced

and i think a cloged cat can make your car run hot too ?????????

If the cat is clooged it will glow when it gets hot. I would gut the cat first to see if it helps

    Exhaust flows fine.....
Temp is fine, it just starts having problems when its warmed up. But it doesn't overheat.

The cat code had came up on the last smog check, but the truck ran fine for the 3 months since its been.

It will be replaced since we HAVE to have them here in California.

    But i don't think that's the problem.:hmmm:
