how would you go about turboing a carberated motor. i've heard of blow through carbs but i cant find anything on them. i have a turbo laying around now and i have my ford 400 just sitting while welding is being done.
you can buy or modify a carb for a blow through application. you can also make it a draw through. doenst need as much modifcations to work. its just hard to start sence the fuel as to go through all the pluming of turbo. there is endless info on the internet on how to do this.
I also got this book marked here's a good read on this subject. http://fordsix.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=24859 the cool thing about blow trough is if you keep the boost below 10PSI you dont need an intercooler. The actual fuel does a great job at cooling the charge. and pick up this book: [ame="http://www.amazon.com/Maximum-Boost-Turbocharger-Engineering-Performance/dp/0837601606/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1279747011&sr=8-1"]Amazon.com: Maximum Boost: Designing, Testing, and Installing Turbocharger Systems (Engineering and Performance) (9780837601601): Corky Bell: Books[/ame]
I believe tuning is even easier if you enclose the whole carb in a box. I was thinking of adapting one of those Paxton carbed NOVI 1200 kit carb enclosures for a turbo build.
theturboforums.com Every question that you will ever want answered is there. I will warn you though, use the search key. The guys on there are very sensitive about new people asking the same questions over and over. Having said that they cover blow through, draw through and fuel injection systems. I am not a huge poster over there, but I a huge lurker and I've learned a ton that way!
