    Hey
To all that have done the V8 swap succesfully.
What did I do wrong and how do I fix it if my motor mounts won't line up.
And does anybody have a picture of an installed engine crossmember?
    Thanx
    Peter

If everything seems to be off by just a little bit (just enough that bolts won't go into holes) try loosening ALL the bolts to mounts, frame mounts, etc. so that they have enough play to move around a fair amount. Drop motor in just far enough to get bolts started, then once all bolts are started, lower motor in the rest of the way and tighten everything down. I thought I had the same problem on my car until I put motor in with everything loose, then there was plenty of slop to get things to line up. Now if I pull the engine, I just remove the 4 bolts that bolt the mounts to the engine block. When I go to reinstall, everything is already lined up and it goes in with no problems. Also, make sure you don't have Mustang motor mounts instead of Mav mounts. They look about the same, but don't work! (Tried that one myself as well, very frustrating!!)

    Good luck!

Also make sure the offset on the frame mounts is in the back.

Even with the lose bolts i'm off by at least 1/2 inch. Is it possible that the shock towers got bent when I was using the wrong (Mustang) motor mounts, even when I never drove the car?

You can come look at mine...

I'm in Orlando too, and have done this swap. My car is not on the road yet though, so if you want to see it, you'll have to come to my place. Let me know if you do

Here is some additional things to look at.
On the v8 cars there is a lower cross brace under the engine in addition the the regular cross member. The spring towers may be pulling togather from structual weakness. Get these areas checked out and do the repair/changes then try the engine fit again.
Motor mount assembly for these cars are specific.
