I have a 70 maverick 2 door that I usually keep undercover, but just recently and when I first bought the car it sat outside for awhile. I have noticed a small amount of rain water on the carpet at the pass side kick panel. Only during a heavy long rain sitting in the yard I notice this. It seems to be coming from behind the plastic panel. I'm not sure if there is drainage behind the front fender, or if its coming from the cowl. There is no leakage from under the dash or around the heater box. I know the cowls rotted out on a lot of these cars, but don't think that's my problem as the car is pretty much rust free. I pulled the carpet back and removed the trim panel to dry it out and see some sealer that looks factory, but nothing abnormal. I'm curious if this is a known concern or if a little caulk somewhere up high could stop the problem. If anyone has any advice it would be appreciated.

If not from the cowl, then windshield. Run or pour some water into cowl area and see if any leaks, if not, then pour water or run hose around windshield/gasket.

I sealed a seam on the pass side a pillar where water was seeping in from the cowl drain and that problem seems solved. I have noticed some water dripping in from the fresh air vents on both sides when washing or hosing down the car, I thought that seam sealer that's old could be cracked and causing a leak. Has anyone experienced this?

The hole where the radio antenna cable goes through can leak if the rubber grommet is rotted and the area gets exposed to water.
