Hey can some one tell me what the weight of my car is...74 Mav. I am PROBABLY going to keep the original bumpers but I am not real sure about that though...it just seems everyone is going to the smaller bumpers or fiberglass...I wanna be different! LOL so 200 lbs for the bumpers and what for the car?

    :D

i loaned my book out that has actual weights in it, but my 71 grabber has a 351w, no rear seat, 9" rear, and 5 gallon fuel cell. i weighed it on the scales at the track and it was 2850.

hey redneck- i believe my 75 2door with 302 tips the scales at 2980. as far as the bumpers go, ( i recently bought this car) i would keep them. they may be kinda ugly at first, but considering how much mav body parts go for, i am gonna keep the big uglies! they were put there to protect your car and i can tell you that the "small" bumpers are there for show. they sure don't do anytig to protect your investment!

Our 72 grabber when it was stock weighed 2820lbs minus the A/C compressor. The new car weighs 3030lbs that's with A/C, power windows, power locks, t-5, heavy duty rear spring, 8.8, 302 alum heads, 6 way power seats, mustang II front end, sway bars front and rear, power steering, 17x9 cobra R's, 245 F 275 R tires, four wheel power disc, and cruise control

from the new car to the old it gained 200 lbs in the rear.

I see you are still thinking!

    Hey girl,

Congrads on being married by now!

I see you are still thinking about racing your mav, what you need to do is make up your mind to either restore for show or build to race, because it'e VERY hard to do both.
Now if you are going to race go with the small bumpers, if you are going to show the car stay with the larger ones.

I can't tell you which way to go but if you want to go 126mph in the 1/4 mile I will buckle you into my Mav and let you see how it feels!

    Take care!
