when i had a small block olds in my cutlass and seen these advertised in hot rod or some other mag i thought to myself "i have to have those!" but as i read a little further into it I noticed they were only avaliable for small block chevys:hmmm:

fast foward a few years my cutlass is now powered by a small block chevy and iam in the market for new VC's since im not really in love with my edelbrocks with all there surface rust. so these crossed my mind and im kinda on the fence about it. on one hand im actually kinda ashamed to be C powered in my olds and im not sure its right to try to disguise it. on top of that just about any idiot knows a sbc when they see it. although alot of people still believe GM only made chevy v8's and there was no distinction between family. if you bought a ford linc or merc it was still ford powered but gm famlies each had there own engines through the 80s.

another side of me is saying theres nothing wrong with a few emblems, it is what it is. i really like the 1960's finned VC's that say "corvette" acoss em. and i probably wont have a problem backing up the name:cool:

3rd option would be just plain chrome, pretty neutral. cant go wrong with that right?

im not doing nothing in "orange" and im not doing anything with a brand name across it, e'brock, maroso, summit, etc.

so feel free to leave your opinion. if you had a 1980's 2 door cutlass with a quick SBC how would it look under the hood?

then again i know most of you ford nuts would never have anything close to that so it might be hard to answer:oops:

i'll probably be in primer for a little while but when i pop the hood i want it to look like i got something going on(y)

307's were the small block oldsmobile v8's that woulc have originally came in my car. they were just as crappy as a 305 though even though it would be easy to see the diffrence if you knew what to look for. but its pretty comon for someone to hook up a sba in their car and just tell everyone its a 305. they all look the same on the outside

but back in the day there was a small block 307 chevy as well, its totally diffrent then the olds version and from what i hear there alot better then that 1980's crap.

yea they mixed it up alot, corprate engines were just another term for sbc's. lots of pontiacs ended up with 305's while buick and olds swapped around the 307 olds or the 3.8 v6 buick
