ok so i found the wheel i like, and i think it will look good(just the silver model) let me know what u think...fronts are gonna 14x7's rears are 15x8 both with a 3" backspacing the wheel on the bottom of the page http://www.bassettwheel.com/legends_mini.html also what are some good performing wheels that have a nostalgic look to them(wet and dry performance) thanx for the advice in advance
i bought US Wheels rims from summit.. 45 a piece i think.. they are 14x7 front with 3.75 back spacing 14x8 rims for the back with 3.75" back spacing they are chrome... they look decent.... pic here
Go with the 4" back space for the rears...you will be able to get more rubber under the fenders that way. Should be able to get up around 245 width. If you go 3" BS, you may only be able to get to around 215 or 225. Would someone correct me if I am leading him astray?
Scoop is correct. 3" backspace is not near enough for rims that wide. Usually 8" wide rears need 4" or better. Simon is using 3.75", I guess we'll see how that goes. He will probably need to roll his wheel wells, or use a narrow tire.
My BS on the rear 15X8 is 4.25. I can squeeze 245/60r15 on there with a little room to spare. Just a little... Running 255/60r15 BFG T/A Radials rubs just a bit on the outside, but clears the inside spring by less than 1/2". My fenders are not rolled, or I could do the 255 without rubbing, and "maybe" squeeze 275s in there. These are 245 on 4.25" BS... and 255/60... If you were to move these out 1-3/4" (3" BS) just think where the tire would be. You would have an extra 1-3/4" clearance on the inside by the spring, but it would be sticking out past the fender...
Oh, Simon, Those are the traction bars I am trying to get to you. I cut the back plate that used to be a big square because at one time, I installed them a little off center and they rubbed into the tire. I cut them at an angle to get rid of some of the extra material and to provide more clearance so they never hit the rim or tire.
