    hi guys,

this ones for all you engine experts out there. i have a early 70's 302 which from the factory had 210hp, i have no acc. save the alt., i plan on putting a edlebrock perfomer rpm manifold long tube headers and 650 cfm round bouts carb. now i also have it backed to a t-5 tranny and glasspacks for mufflers (if they could be called that, more like resonators). Providing i get some decent gears eventually what can i expect for HP at the flywheel and the wheels.

    thanks

What cam and compression do you have? those things really make the HP. The factory HP numbers mean nothing in the real world. They are good only for advertizing and rocking chair racing.

i'm thinking about 9:1 compression, and a cams really arent my thing but, i will probably go with a: 224 duration and .501" lift.

    thanks

And what heads? If stock you may see around 250 FWHP.

That 210 HP they have is at the Flywheel which is how they rated it up intill 1972. In nowdays rating which is NET back of the transmission. They only have 140 HP stock.

My best guess with the information provided would be 250 to 300 hp. The only way you are going to get .501" lift is with a extreme energy cam. If your heads are stock that is what is limiting your power at this point. If they are aftermarket you could see 300 to 330 HP. (properly tuned)
